The Senate Alcove at Parliament House will be full tonight of Polititions, Sports Stars and prominent members of the community for the Sports Advocacy Group Women in Sport Dinner. Sports Hydrant has been preparing for months gathering the Australia's elite for what will be an increadible night.
The Sports Advocacy Group is an independent body which aims to combine the expertise of the sports industry with the needs and aspirations of the Australian public to provide a voice for sport.
The Master of Ceremonies will be Deane Russell, Managing Director Sports Advocacy Group, along with Stephanie Branz in conversation with Mark Anderson (CEO of Hockey Australia) and Leigh Nugent (Head Coach, Australian Swimming team). Following an amazing three course meal there will be a group forum to profile some of Australias top sports women.
Among those interviewed will be Lucille Baile, WNBL Life member and WNBL Champion; Alicia Coutts, medley, butterfly and freestyle swimmer winning 5 gold medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games; Anna Flanagan, Hockeyroo defender winning Gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games; Alice Mills, Order of Australia medal winner and two Olympic Medals in the pool; and Allison Shreeve, 4 x Formula Windsurfing World Champion, A Class world speed record holder and Australia's Female sailor of the year 2006.
The Minister for Sport, Senator The Hon Mark Arbib will be in attendance along with The Hon Bronwyn Bishop MP, Senator The Hon Kate Lundy, The Hon Robert McClelland, Adam Bandt MP to name a few. The seated tables will be mixed between athletes, MP's, Senators and sporting governing bodies.
