2010 Sydney Schoolgirls’ Get Active BreakfastMonday, 9 Aug, 2010
The biggest breakfast for schoolgirls is on again. Over 800 high school girls from across Sydney will converge on Sydney Olympic Park on Thursday October 28, 2010 to meet and mingle with their sporting heroines at the 2010 Sydney Schoolgirls' Get Active Breakfast.
This annual event, held by Womensport and Recreation NSW, enlists elite state, national and international female sportswomen (including Olympians and international champions) from a variety of sports to motivate and encourage teenage girls to maintain their involvement in sport and physical activity throughout their lives.
In its ninth successful year, the Sydney Schoolgirls’ Breakfast, hopes to educate girls about the benefits of sport and physical activity resulting in a long term healthy lifestyle. It also provides a forum for schoolgirls to meet and share the experiences of high-profile sportspeople, athletes, coaches, officials and sports administrators.
The event, to be hosted by Kerri Pottharst OAM, will also feature a Question & Answer Panel featuring a number of high profile athletes including; Alyssa Healy (NSW Breakers and Australian Southern Stars Cricket Teams), Allison Shreeve (World Champion Windsurfer), Candice Falzon (Ironwoman), Libby Trickett (Australian Swimmer), and Tamika Saxby (Australian Representative Squash Player). These elite sports women will answer questions from the audience about their experiences, challenges and achievements.
There will also be a number of sporting demonstrations on display throughout the morning including Orienteering, Cricket, Handball, Soccer, Basketball, Squash etc.
